Great Opportunity to Get Books!
Who can resist this opportunity? Starting today, you can get some great savings on Books, CDs and DVDs! You should check this out and take advantage of the opportunity to stock up on your personal collection of relevant books for you and your kids.
At the Tutoring Club of Jacksonville, we encourage parents to read to their children for 10 minutes a day and ask them 3 questions. Then have your child to read to you for 10 minutes and ask you 3 questions. This is one of the most effective ways you can help your child improve their comprehension capabilities. This exercise is good for kids of all ages and grades!

Bundle Up when it's cold outside!
Living in Florida has some unique challenges when it comes to dressing for the weather! Our kids become very accustomed to wearing shorts and Crocs, and we typically have very moderate temperatures year round. That's one of the things we love about living here!
But we are in the season where we do have some very cold snaps, like today! Even though your child may object to jackets and layering, please stand firm in helping them dress appropriately for the weather. They can really be exposed to hypothermia during recess, waiting at the bus stop, walking home, or playing outside with friends if they are not properly dressed for the weather!
Please help us take care of our kids! Dress warmly! And we will make sure they don't leave their winter gear at the Tutoring Club of Jacksonville when they come for their sessions! #tutoringclubjax

"This is exasperating!" - this video is hilarious!
Kids truly do say the funniest things! This video is trending this morning and we have a link to it below. It is very amusing! One of the funniest things about it is this kid uses the word "exasperating" in the proper context! He's in a car seat and using a big word in the right way! Unbelievable!

After you get a chuckle, we also want to give this mom some credit for teaching her child some great vocabulary at such a young age. He also shows some math skills by talking about currently having 2 and adding one more, and he is a critical thinker, anticipating the need for earplugs to address a crying problem. We love this - he is expressive and articulate for such a small boy!
Have a fabulous Thursday!

3 weeks until school starts!
The start of the new school year is on the final countdown...3 weeks from today our students will be in their new classrooms!
Begin to gather the necessary school supplies. Many of the retail stores have Elementary School supply lists available, by grade. Middle and High School students may need to wait for the first day of school or you may try to access a teacher's website to look for the requested supplies. We do recommend that you pick up some basics now though - like paper, pens, pencils, composition books, 3-prong folders, etc.
NOTE: If you can pick up a few extra supplies to donate to children in need that would be amazing! It will give your child a great feeling to help children who have to struggle!
And we will be reiterating this point over the next few weeks about getting back into some semblance of a school schedule. Summer break is awesome, but it might be a good idea to insert some reading time where a good homework schedule will be. And work on getting your children to bed a little earlier, and waking up a little earlier too. It's so much easier to start now and avoid chaos the morning of the first day of school!
